A Letter from VP Philanthropy

Anna Welsh

As VP of Philanthropy, I have had the chance to organize several philanthropy events including Mock Rock, Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi, and creating a new event, Mr. Alpha Chi. It has been so much fun adding in new and exciting events and growing the position. Being that our philanthropy is DVA, we work closely every year with the Community Violence Intervention Center of the greater Grand Forks Community. This year, we had the opportunity to become Dream Makers for CVIC, where we have pledged to donate at least $1,000 each year. Although we always succeed with that donation, it’s a gentle reminder of why we raise money year after year. I am so excited to finish out the rest of my time in this position and can’t wait to see where it takes me! Thank you for the continued community support for Alpha Chi Omega and the Community Violence Intervention Center.

Our Philanthropy

Domestic Violence Awareness

Our philanthropy of Domestic Violence Awareness tends to be a hard topic to talk about. We take pride in our ability to  discuss this topic openly and free of judgement. Every year, our chapter, and chapters all over the nation hold Philanthropy Events where all of our proceeds go towards ending the stigma surrounding DOmestic Violence and supporting those that have been effected by Domestic Violence. 100% of our proceeds go towards the Community Violence Intervention Center (CVIC) which is a service that supports families in our are of Grand Forks that are directly effected by Domestic Violence. Meaning, we get to see where our proceeds go every year. Our philanthropic events include things like Strike Out Domestic violence, Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi, Snowcones with AChiOs, and our most coveted event Mock Rock which is a dance competition between the fraternities on our campus. Alpha Chi Omega actively supports Domestic Violence Awareness because we believe that 1 in 4 women effected is too many.
